The publication

An annual about ornaments, kept year-round

The Ornament Annual is an editorial publication about Christmas ornaments: their history, the countries and workshops they came from, the markets that sell them, the brands that made them famous, and the care that keeps them alive from one December to the next. It is written for collectors and nostalgics who know the difference between the real thing and a reproduction, and who would rather have an honest page than a padded one.

The photography

The pieces marked "From the Collection" across the Annual are photographs of ornaments from the editors' own shelves, shot at home, most of them on the tree where they actually hang. The Annual's other imagery is either licensed archival material, credited where it appears, or the publication's own designed plates. Where a page needs an image we do not honestly have, the space waits until we do; identification notes under collection photographs say so plainly when our records on a piece are still open.

The standards

We source factual claims, and where the documentary record is thin we say so: origin stories are told as disputed, not as settled fact. Care and preservation advice follows published conservation guidance from institutional sources, cited on the care pages themselves, rather than invented technique. Attribution honesty runs through the collecting pages: style alone is an educated guess, and we say so.

How the Annual is supported

The Annual is reader-supported. Some pages carry eBay and Amazon affiliate links; purchases made through them earn us a small commission at no extra cost to the buyer. The full arrangement is described in the publisher's notices. Coverage is not for sale: no page of the Annual is paid placement.

The publisher

The Ornament Annual is published by Tier 4 Support Inc. of Santa Monica, California.
